Farmers are happy to get pension

Baliyasar Yadav, a resident of Narainapur Gaonpalika-5, Matehiya, who has been rearing buffaloes commercially, is stunned to receive a farmer’s pension from the village.

“I am very happy that the village municipality has given us the allowance in remembrance of us,” he said. The Narainapur Municipality of Banke has distributed pensions to 12 farmers including Yadav to encourage the agricultural sector. According to Dal Bahadur Basnet, chief administrative officer of the village municipality, 12 farmers have been selected and distributed at the rate of Rs 2,000 each in the first six months of the current fiscal year.

According to him, the farmers’ pension program has been started at the rate of Rs 2,000 per farmer with effect from July of the current fiscal year. In the first year of the farmer’s pension program, six commercial livestock farmers and six vegetable farmers have been selected and distributed.

He is confident that the program will help in creating more competitive spirit among the farmers of Narainapur next year and inspire the village municipality to become self-reliant in the field of agriculture and animal husbandry, said village chairman Istiaq Ahmed Shah.

“There is immense potential for agriculture and animal husbandry in the village,” he said.

Among the six selected from the agriculture branch of the village municipality, all of them are farmers who have been cultivating commercial vegetables. Vada no. Hasmat Ali Sai, who cultivates vegetables in 19 blocks, Hamid Mukeri, who grows vegetables in 14 blocks, Dhanvir Tharu of Daulatpur, who grows vegetables in 12 blocks, Daulatpur, who grows vegetables in 10 blocks, ward no. Ramsurat Maurya, a resident of ward no. Kamala Tiwari, 1, has received a farmer’s pension.

Similarly, the ward has been rearing 2,000 chickens from livestock farmers. Amarlal Maurya, a resident of ward no. 6, raised 5 cows and 49 buffaloes. Valiyasar Yadav of 5 and ward no. 2 of where Ifran Ahmed has been selected for farmer’s pension.

Vada no. 5 ka Harishankar Murau, Ward no. Chhotelal Radh of 4 and ward no. Ram Sumat Yadav, 5, has also received a farmer’s pension. According to Basnet, the chief administrative officer of the village municipality, the farmers’ pension has been distributed on the basis of selecting farmers based on those engaged in commercial agriculture and animal husbandry.
