Academies begin celebration of National Unity Day

Kathmandu :Various institutions including academies began celebration of the National Unity Day from today. Nepal Academy, Academy of Fine Arts, Academy of Music and Drama, and Cultural Association jointly launched the three-day celebration.

On the first day, an exhibition of books was organized in the premises of Nepal Academy. Chancellor Ganga Prasad Uprety informed that the book exhibition would run for a week.

Similarly, Academy of Fine Arts organized an exhibition of fine arts as part of the celebration on Sunday. Academy Chancellor Kanchha Kumar Karmacharya informed that the exhibition was a weeklong programme. There are 134 creations.

The creations in exhibition are focused on unity. Many reflect the message of national unity spread by Prithvi Narayan Shah.
A discussion is scheduled for Monday on role of Prithvi Narayan Shah on unification of Nepal. Similarly, a cultural pageant and garlanding the statue of Prithvi Narayan Shah will be organized.
