Chief Minister calls for preparedness against new variant of coronavirus


Karnali: Chief Minister of Karnali Province Jeevan Bahadur Shahi has instructed the officials for the preparedness against the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

After an inspection visit of Mehalkuna Hospital in eastern Surkhet on Sunday, he asked the health care institutions and local levels to complete all the preparedness tasks prior to the spread of the third wave of the pandemic.

On the occasion, Shahi said that processes for the construction of a 50-beded infectious disease control hospital was initiated at Chhinchu of Bheriganga Municipality, the main entrance of Karnali Province.

He called upon the federal, province and local levels to cooperate to prepare a plan of action prior to the spread of the infection, adding that the province government would ensure sufficient budget and human resources.

The Chief Minister said that oxygen plant has been established in Mehalkuna Hospital to ensure sufficiency of oxygen in Surkhet, Salyan, Jajarkot, Rukum West and Dolpa districts.
