CMC performs successful liver transplantation for sixth time

Chitwan, Jan 7 (RSS)-The Chitwan Medical College has successfully conducted liver transplantation for the sixth time.

The Medical College transplanted liver of Jeevan Pujara, 38, of Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city-19 of Kailali in the third week of December 2021. Jeevan’s brother, Krishna, 32, had donated liver to him.

Organising a press conference here today, the Hospital informed about the liver transplantation for the sixth time. College Director Dr Dayaram Lamsal said that Krishna’s 60 per cent liver was transplanted on Jeevan.

A team of doctors and health workers successfully performed the liver transplantation taking 12 hours. Hospital Chairperson and Managing Director Prof Dr Harish Chandra Neupane shared that the hospital has become successful to perform highest number of liver transplantation in Nepal in 2021.

Besides CMC, the Human Organ Transplantation Centre, Bhaktapur, and Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital have been providing liver transplantation service.

Neupane claimed that the Chitwan Medical College has conducted more liver transplantation compared to these two hospitals in 2021.
